Profile

As an experienced product owner, you are responsible for translating the product roadmap into an actionable, prioritized product backlog. You maintain close alignment with the business, your team members, and the other Product Owners.

Together with your multidisciplinary Product Team(s), you implement product backlog items in sprints. You are the functional product specialist within the team, who turns (business) requirements into refined, workable solutions together with the developers. You always keep an eye on the cost-benefit of solutions. You verify that deliverables always meet the definition of done. This includes testing and documenting of key new product features.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the product backlog, in consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Translate items from the product roadmap and smaller (customer) requirements into well-defined product requirements (product backlog items, user stories, acceptance criteria).
  • Continuously review business needs and refine priorities in the product backlog.
  • Evaluate cost-benefit ratio, desirability, and quality of change requests.
  • Implement product backlog items with your multidisciplinary Product Team(s).
  • Ensure an implementation of high quality.
  • Perform functional testing for the implemented items.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as release notes and manuals.
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to define, maintain and communicate our product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Contribute to proactive external communication about newly delivered functionality.
  • Manage the lifecycle of product modules and features (from introduction to phasing out).
  • Coordinate, communicate and approve planned and emergency patches.
  • Support buy or build strategy decisions.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development processes.
  • Excellent project management (agile focused) and multitasking skills.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of software development.
  • Experience with testing a complex application.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, in teams and autonomously.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good and reliable communicator (both written and spoken, fluent in English).
  • Able to align interests of different stakeholders.
  • Affinity with document control and document management software.
  • Positive, proactive, and hands-on attitude.
  • Curious by nature and eager to find solutions for complex challenges.
  • Business- and user-oriented approach with a commercial instinct.
